About Anundsjö

Anundsjö consists of the villages Mellansel, Bredbyn, Kubbe, Norrflärke, Solberg, Myckelgensjö and Skorped etc. Bygdsam Anundsjö's area also includes the neighboring village of Mo with Gottne and Moliden. Anundsjö and Mo are located in the northwestern part of Örnsköldsvik Municipality, Västernorrland and belong to and are part of the destination Höga Kusten. The views here offer hills and mountains and several valleys with fishing waters and swimming, a nature available to us all.

There is a very strong business community here with more than 100 active companies, with Polarbröd AB, Bosch Rexroth AB and AB Höglands Såg & Hyvleri being the major employers. Many other entrepreneurs are also active in construction, forestry, trade and tourism.

The area of Anundsjö, originally Anundsjö parish, later Anundsjö municipality, now merged with Örnsköldsvik municipality, is as large as Blekinge in area. Bredbyn , which is Anundsjö's central town, is very centrally located. By car it is about 30 minutes to Örnsköldsvik, 30 minutes to the train station and 50 minutes to Gideå airport. There are grocery stores, restaurants, shopping, health care, preschools and school for grades F-9 and activities such as Hockey, Football, Skiing and Biathlon, Orienteering, Gympa and Gym and more. Just five minutes away from this is the magnificent forest that offers hunting & fishing, mushroom picking, skiing, snowmobiling or why not just stroll in the stunningly beautiful nature.

The facts

  • The area is 2,629 square kilometers. About 4000 inhabitants. The area is the size of Blekinge so there is plenty of room for everyone!

  • The service town of Bredbyn has the area's upper secondary school, Anundsjöskolan, which was built in 2018 and houses F-9 including a library. Bredbyn also has the Bredbyns and Forsens preschools. There are also 5 village schools and preschools around the area in Skorped, Moliden, Gottne, Mellansel and Norrflärke.

  • The medical center, dental clinic and pharmacy are located at the square in Bredbyn.

  • Through the rich association life and the drive of people in the village, many activities are offered in movement for young and old. Gymnastics, Orienteering, Football, Hockey, Skiing, Biathlon, Gym and more.

Local Economic Analysis

In 2021, a local analysis of Anundsjö was conducted. The analysis provides an overview of how much of the local economic assets are spent in the area and how much is leaked out. It shows what informed choices by local people can do to create jobs and local growth. It also brings together our full range of services.

Anundsjö School 2018

Anundsjöskolan was built in 2018 and offers modern facilities and a fantastic outdoor environment for all ages. The magical wooded area behind the school is perhaps where the younger years play most. There is a babbling brook where the children love to play and in the field next door, mazes are created in the grass that go to - well maybe a hut consisting of a pile of branches?

The groundbreaking ceremony took place in the fall of 2017 and the following spring, students and teachers moved into the new school. The newly built school houses students in grades F-9 and a library.
